The National Federation of Demolition Contractors has successfully delivered the first two seminars in its 2026 NFDC Talks series, with events held in Manchester and Bristol bringing together clients, contractors, health and safety professionals, project teams and industry stakeholders. 

The NFDC Talks programme has been designed to support those involved in demolition projects by raising awareness of the importance of early planning, competent contractor selection, safety, skills and compliance. 

The Manchester seminar, held on 17 June, achieved record attendance for the series, with a strong and engaged audience representing a wide range of organisations, including public and private sector clients. The session generated excellent discussion, with questions from the room continuing beyond the scheduled time and highlighting the value of open, practical conversations around demolition planning and project delivery. 

The Bristol seminar, held on 24 June, continued the positive momentum. Despite the challenges of the summer heatwave and associated travel disruption, attendees took part in a highly interactive session, with in-depth discussions and direct engagement with the expert speakers. 

Across both seminars, the quality of the audience participation and the level of discussion demonstrated the importance of creating spaces where clients and project teams can better understand what good demolition planning looks like, what competence means in practice, and why appointing the right demolition contractor is critical to safe and successful project outcomes. 

NFDC President Adrian Corrigan said: 

“NFDC Talks is about opening up important conversations with the people who are involved in planning, procuring and managing demolition works. Demolition is a specialist activity, and decisions made early in a project can have a significant impact on safety, compliance and delivery. 

It has been very encouraging to see such strong engagement in Manchester and Bristol, and we are grateful to everyone who attended, asked questions and contributed to the discussions.” 

The seminars also provided an opportunity to highlight the role of NFDC members, the importance of recognised competence, and the value of working with contractors who meet the standards expected within the demolition industry.

Following the summer break, the NFDC Talks series will continue with further seminars taking place across the UK. The next dates and locations are: London – 22nd September, Cardiff – 15th October, Glasgow – 11th November
